Come As You Are

Making No Apologies
6

I’m a product of the ’90s grunge era, where you either put your head down and conformed or were viewed as an outcast with a drug problem. I’m now living with the consequences of trying to fit into a world that didn’t sit with my soul, and I’m putting it on full display to encourage others to do the same.

At one point in this episode, I laugh at the thought of my own training in clinical psychology because, at times, I struggle to apply what I have learned to myself and get out of my own way. I contemplate, ruminate, and overanalyze rather than live and be. I justify this behavior by identifying as a “reflector and deep thinker.” Most people stay surface level, which serves them well in society, only skimming the top of a topic. In my work, I dive all the way in, sometimes to the point of exhaustion and burnout, even of a concept. Through research, education, jobs, and lived experiences I know A LOT about a variety of things, technology NOT being one of those, and I want a platform to share that information so it gets out of my head. I’m a whiz at identifying and fixing other people’s problems, which is why I excelled in leadership positions for so long. I just got tired of the hampster wheel and would rather empower people with the tools to solve their own problems. That’s what I hope to do with this work. Thanks for listening and reading!
