We are at the halfway point of 2025! I have been taking time this week to:
Reflect on my word of the year - SIMPLIFY
Review my intentions and goals
Acknowledge the rejections and setbacks
Celebrate my wins
Write down a plan for what I want the second half of this year to look like for me to be successful
This meant I needed to get really clear on the specific actions and microhabits needed to make these goals come to life. Goals get us nowhere if actions aren’t taken, and in order to take action, much of what I was doing needed to be simplified.
Through this process, I decided I needed to reintroduce myself to you all, which is what the short clip is this week. It’s basically a remember who the heck you are to myself!
Midlife Catalyst
"Midlife isn't the ending, it isn't a crisis. This is the becoming, the great awakening to live a life in alignment."
In a world that often tells us our best days are behind us, I'm here to flip the script on midlife. A year ago, I walked away from a life that looked perfect on paper but left me feeling hollow inside. Now, I'm on a mission to redefine what it means to enter the second half of life - not as a crisis, but as a catalyst for authentic living.
As I reflect on this journey, I'm reminded of the profound impact losing my parents had on my perspective. It was a wake-up call that life is too short to live by someone else's rulebook. Sobriety in 2020 opened my eyes even wider, showing me the possibilities that come with living authentically.
Breaking Free from Societal Expectations
My goal isn't to offer a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, I share my experiences and those of others who've chosen to:
Challenge societal norms
Create their own definitions of success
Embrace imperfection and growth
What You'll Find in the Midlife Catalyst Community
Raw, honest conversations about grief and life transitions
A healthy dose of sarcasm and humor
Musical references (because life is better with a soundtrack from the 90’s)
Stories of personal growth and reinvention
A Year of Learning and Growing
This past year has been a whirlwind of new learning experiences, including launching a podcast that's now 17 episodes strong1. Starting next Thursday, I plan to release new episodes weekly through November, so make sure you have added the Midlife Catalyst Podcast to your favorite platform so you don’t miss an episode2. I’ve been super busy this week recording, and I’m beyond excited about the direction the podcast is going. In the meantime, go back and ensure you’ve listened, liked, and commented on your favorite episode.
I've made mistakes, learned valuable lessons, and committed to living without regrets. I am genuinely proud of the work I have released and am grateful you all have come on this learning journey with me.
"I don't think that any of them are failures. I think they're learning opportunities to do better, to grow, and to certainly ensure that I don't get to the end of my life with any regrets."
What Lights Me Up
Writing and speaking my truth
Exercising and being outdoors
Traveling and experiencing new cities
Reading and listening to podcasts3
Connecting with people and hearing their stories
All things Oklahoma City Thunder, Sooner Sports, and really any sport
If you're feeling stuck, unfulfilled, or simply curious about what life could look like on your own terms, you're in the right place. Let's challenge the narrative that midlife is the beginning of the end. Instead, let's see it as the start of something beautiful - a time to become who we truly are.
I invite you to join this community of seekers and dreamers. Share your story, your hopes, and what you're looking to get out of this life. Together, we'll navigate this journey of self-discovery and authentic living.
As Tom Petty wisely said, "You belong among the wildflowers." Now it's time to find them!
The stats show that most new podcasts don’t last past eight episodes, so I will call this a win!
Reminder that a clip and the show notes will still be found here on Substack.
My love language is giving people book and podcast recommendations, and I also like to receive them, so comment below and let me know what your favorite summer reads or podcasts are.
